WebDLNA
LiveYour media library, in a browser tab.
WebDLNA turns the media sources you already run into one library in any browser on your network. It connects to DLNA, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby and mounted folders, streams compatible files directly, transcodes the ones browsers cannot play, and includes casting, playlists, instant search and offline playback. It is free, open-source and self-hosted on one Node process.

What's inside
A DLNA client from this decade
The protocol is fine. The clients are the problem. WebDLNA is what browsing your own media should have felt like all along.
01
One library, every source
Combine DLNA, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, mounted folders and network shares into one catalogue, with duplicate copies grouped behind a single entry.
02
Plays what browsers can't
Compatible media streams directly. HEVC, AC-3 and unusual containers are transcoded on the fly through ffmpeg, with NVIDIA hardware encoding used when available.
03
Search that answers
Search the combined catalogue across every source at once, with filters for media type, year, genre and resolution.
04
A full media client
Queues, playlists, favourites, history, playback statistics and resume positions make it a library you can actually live in.
05
Works offline
Download media into the browser's own storage and play it with the network gone entirely.
06
Casts to the television
Send media to a Chromecast with full remote control when the browser is not the screen you want.
Status
Out now, free and open-source
WebDLNA is live now. It unifies the media servers and folders you already have, then makes the resulting library available in any modern browser on your network.
Install it with Docker, on Debian or Ubuntu, as a desktop app, or from source. Your catalogue stays on your own machines and your own network.
